Among the many resources available at the Gratiot County Genealogical Library are high school yearbooks. The library has a collection of yearbooks from every school in Gratiot County, many dating back to the early years of the 20th century. These books, usually filled with photographs, are great resources for genealogists and other researchers. The Library of Michigan also recognizes the importance of yearbooks and has recently begun a program to collect two copies of each one published in Michigan. This fall the genealogy library contacted the Library of Michigan’s program and offered our extra copies of yearbooks to them for their collection. We are pleased to report that over 100 Gratiot County yearbooks now have a permanent place at the library in Lansing! If you have yearbooks you would like to donate, you can call 517-335-1477 or email at Librarian@Michigan.gov.
