The May 18-19 Joint Open House of the Gratiot Historical Museum and Gratiot Genealogy Library was very successful.  Approximately 80 people visited the museum, and 40 visited the library.  Many thanks to the volunteers who helped in any way with the open house.

The museum’s 2024 theme, “Wedding Attire” showcases 100 years of wedding dresses from 1883 to 1984.  Included are pictures of Gratiot County brides and grooms, marriage certificates and other wedding memorabilia.

The store exhibit features the villages of North Star and Elwell while the log cabin and barn are also open for viewing.  Museum hours are Wednesdays from 1-4:00 and on special occasions.  Tours may be arranged by calling Linda Weburg at 989-330-8240  There is no charge, but donations are gratefully accepted.

The Ithaca North Elementary fifth grade students visited the museum May 22.  They especially liked the log cabin.

The museum has a summer intern – David O’Rourke, a history major at Alma College.  His help is greatly appreciated.
