The Gratiot Historical Museum is closed for the winter and will reopen next spring.  The museum’s display of wedding dresses and memorabilia from 1883 to 1984 was very popular, and we received several more wedding dresses for our collection.

The museum has received many artifacts this summer requiring their accession and addition to our software computer program.  Many thanks to all who donated items.

The Ithaca Elementary School fifth graders recently toured the museum and the genealogy library.  They usually visit twice a year since the exhibit changes in the spring.

Several maintenance jobs have been done this fall by Don Walworth with funds from the Annual Designated Grant for Marguerite J. Brown Fund at the Gratiot Community Foundation.  He repaired and painted the front and side museum porch posts, spindles and railings; revarnished the store door; hung an antique telephone in the kitchen as well as several other jobs.  We are still hoping to have the store ramp replaced with vinyl material this fall which will help tremendously with future upkeep.
