The home of Kathy Mathers Humphrey and her husband, Jeff, was recognized as an historic Site by the Society on October 19. The home as been in Kathy’s family for over 100 years and has passed down through the women, Ella Bailey Parks, to Flossie Parks Harrison to Sarah Harrison Mathers Ritchie, and now to Kathy. The home is at 323 S. Franklin, St. Louis. Built in 1875 on what was then a farm, it was a two-story wood frame building totaling just over 1,000 square feet. At some point it was moved forward several feet, possibly when James Newton was developing the section to sell home lots. To read more, visit the Morning Sun.
